What is required to get your music heard on the internet, worldwide.

In todays electronic world, it is important to have your own website. There are plenty of options when creating a website to showcase your music. You can have your own website or link with other peoples (we recommend you have your own if you are really serious) so you will need.

1 A domain name. You need your own web address or domain name this will usually be your band name and either .com or .com.au after it.

Sometimes people may already have your web address so you might use .net or .info or .org instead of .com.

A .com.au domain name says that you are Australian.

You can get domain names for between 15 per annum for a global domain ie .com or from $50 - $70 for an Australian domain ie .net.au .com.au or .org.au

Check to see if your domain name is available.

2 design & write a good music website. Writing a good music website is a lengthy process, in this section I will cover the fundamental requirements to get you started.

Write a music web site that is in HTML or XML. If you want people to be able to find you via search engines, these 2 formats are the best. Do Not Use Flash if you want to be included within search engines.

You will need a program called a HTML editor You might have one on your computer if you have office called Microsoft Frontpage. Frontpage is ok, but I recommend that you use Macromedia Dreamweaver or Coffee Cup.

3 Publish your website online. Once you have written your website you need to publish it. For this you will need to purchase hosting space.
